I have been a faithful customer of Winn Dixie for years but I have had it with the horrible management and the horrible food. In the past I have bought food usually dairy products and they are expired way past their date.

A customer fell at the front of the store while holding a baby. The manager told the woman that she was wearing the wrong shoes in the rain. There were no wet floor signs or anyone there drying the floor. That manager called me and had the audacity to lie to me about helping the woman.

I was standing there watching him and how he handled the situation. My last visit on 05/04/14 was horrible. I bought medium headless shrimp on sale. When I started to peel the shrimp I noticed that the feel of the shrimp was very dry which bothered me.

When I smelled the shrimp it had a strong smell of bleach. I thought that maybe it was my hands because I had washed them with dish soap but my hands did not smell of bleach but each individual piece of shrimp did smell like bleach. I was going to feed this shrimp to my child and I was and am still highly upset about that. I called the store and spoke to the manager.

She was very flippant with me stating that I could come in and get more shrimp or get a refund. I did not want a refund or more of the shrimp. And I have a feeling that they would have just repackaged the shrimp to sell again. She told me that shrimp are bottom feeders and they take on the smell of what they eat.

I am not *** or naive and did not appreciate that kind of justification. I know why they did it. There was a grocery store a few years ago that got in trouble for doing the same thing.

They do this to get rid of the bad smell expired shellfish gives off, that way they can repackage and sell past the expiration date. I am still waiting to hear from their corporate store.

Monetary Loss: $10.

Location: Lakeland, Florida

I'm having the same bleached seafood issue with the store in Brooksville, Fl. Spent a lot on spoiled shrimp.

Seafood naturally takes on the smell of bleach when it is deteriorating.

When checking for freshness, a strong quick sniff would detect an odor similar to bleach if product is bad.
